For this assignment, I created three unique images that work together in a series – as a triptych. The term refers to three images meant to be displayed as a collection of connected panels that form a greater image, scene, or story. While the individual panels can be appreciated separately, together they form something greater than the sum of the parts. The concept behind this artwork was to convey the everyday struggle that I go through when making decisions about the actions I take throughout the day. Specifically, the morality of the decisions that I make daily. This is a struggle because of my Christian values. Living the Christian way is incredibly hard because as a Christian I been called to live by a certain set of rules. These rules cause us to live disciplined lives where we can’t do whatever we want and have to battle temptations every single day. These battles can cause inner turmoil at times because we’re literally fighting ourselves. That’s why the images on the project are split in two parts as stating disciplined will help to give you a peace connotated on the Heavenly side, while the opposite will eat you alive in the end.
